5 Great Games for Parents With Only 5 Minutes

When you become a parent it can be difficult to fit in time for yourself. Especially with long RPGs as you have less time to dedicate to them. So here are 5 games for parents with only a few minutes at a time.

Civilization Series

The first game in my list of games for parents. The Civilization series is unlike other strategy games where you build empires. Each player gets a turn to decide what to do during the game. These turns can last anything from a few seconds to 10 or 20 minutes. Which makes it ideal for quick 5 minute sessions.

The downside is that they generally only available on PC. There are versions on other platforms, but the best versions are always on the PC. Yet they can be played on any laptop or PC. if you have a laptop with an SSD and running Windows 10 with a half decent processor you can at least get a few turns in before having to take a breakaway.

Civ IV

My favourite is Civilization 4 (Click here to buy it from HRKGames) as itโ€™s still simple to learn but as the saying goes difficult to master. It is also narrated by Leonard Nimoy of Star Trek fame. Another advantage is each game comes with customization options which can either shorten the game or lengthen it depending on your needs.

Rogue Legacy

Next is Rogue Legacy which is a rogue-like game. Where you take control of a heir to the throne. The aim of the game is to beat all the bosses within your castle so that you can assume control of it. but death isnโ€™t game over. When you die you are resurrected as a new heir to the throne.

Each character you play belongs to a specific class. Which has its own strengths and weaknesses. But each character also can succumb to various ailments. Such as only seeing in black and white or being rather short.

This is a great game for time short people, as each play through can last 5 minutes or more. Yet if you have the Nintendo Switch version should she be needed elsewhere you can lock the screen. Then continue when you have more time.

Rogue Legacy isnโ€™t the only title the implements this feature. There are tonnes of them on the Nintendo Switch such as Everspace.

The Nintendo Switch

Leading on from Rogue Legacy. The Nintendo Switch is the ideal platform for any time-short person. they have huge amount of games from RPGs to a few racing games. Unlike mobile phones and tablets games. Switch games are generally of high quality and better graphics.

You will also find remastered titles from older consoles. Such as the Assassinโ€™s Creed and Bioshock series. What makes this console so great is that you can press the power button to send it to sleep. Allowing you to resume gameplay when you then have the time.

Idle Games

Both iOS and Android have many idle games. When you play these games you can complete objectives. But when you are away, the game โ€˜runsโ€™ in the background. Allowing you to make progress with the game

Most of these titles are free to play but have micro transactions if you want to progress faster. Iโ€™ve played many of these and it found that but Adventure Capitalist to be one of my favourites. Here is a list of idle games that donโ€™t need micro transactions for actual progression.

Darkest Dungeon

Darkest Dungeon (Click here to purchase from HRKgames) is one of the most difficult turn based RPGs that I have played in a long time. You recruit party members and then set off short adventures to progress the story. these adventures last five to 10 minutes they can be even shorter if you fail.

What sets this apart from other RPGs is it stress system. Your party members can get stressed from a variety of situations. If they get too stressed they can die of a heart attack. You can leave the party members at base to reduce their stress levels so they can be taken on more adventures.

Managing stress and also the health of your party members makes it difficult. But due to the short nature of these adventures makes it an ideal game to play for 5 minutes. Especially if you have it on the in Nintendo Switch. Give this game ago but be warned it will stress you out.

Games for Parents Conclusion

That was my five games for parents. I have missed huge amount of games it donโ€™t need a lot of time to play. If you can think of any please let me know down in the comments below. Happy gaming!
